March 30, 2018

The Homestead currently has 53 residents in 48 apartments, including four Share Medical Center providers and one rural residency. On Feb. 1, the total apartments increased to 54 by converting a super two-bedroom apartment into two one-bedroom apartments. Another conversion like that will take place in April.

Kelly Parker said that February was a rough month because at one point 25 percent of the residents were affected by the flu. At the present time, eight residents are off campus at other healthcare facilities. This caused many February activities to be canceled. He said employee illness caused about 160 hours of paid time off.

He said that February was the highest net month this year, with revenue up and expenses down. He said that Karen Campbell is doing a good job managing the kitchen.

The Homestead Café prepared 4,101 meals with 873 of them going to the Woods County jail. Food costs were down 11.7 percent from the previous month.

The Homestead Café received many praises for their extra efforts in taking meals to residents in their apartments while so many were sick with the flu and other illnesses.
