Lawmakers in the House passed bills to increase teacher and state employee salaries, and more importantly, representatives voted to fund those pay raises. It was a bit of a whirlwind on Monday, March 26, but I’m proud of the House Democrats and Republicans who came together to deliver on a long-awaited promise to our state’s educators and civil servants.

My colleagues in the House and I passed 11 bills on March 26, including the education funding measure. House Bill 3705 provides common education with $2.9 billion for Fiscal Year 2019. This is nearly $500 million above what K-12 schools got fo...
