New Barber County Extension agent hired

Barber County Extension has announced that Justin Goodno has been hired as the agriculture and natural resources extension agent. He started on March 26, but spent the first week learning about K-State Research and Extension.

On April 3, everybody is invited to stop by the county extension office in the courthouse for an open house welcoming Goodno in his new position. This event will run from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and include a few refreshments.

Goodno said that he is most excited about "embracing the traditions of Barber County and introducing new innovations." His experiences with crops and livestock are highly valuable. Barber County Extension Board Chair Richard Poland said, "The board really felt like Justin would be a good fit for Barber County. We are excited to see him get started."

Even prior to his official start date, Goodno attended the Barber County Cattleman's Annual Meeting. Then he helped the Barber County 4-H Council with their Bi-Annual Soup Supper and Auction Fundraiser on March 24. Robin Eubank-Callis, family and consumer science extension agent, remarked that "being the only agent for seven months was a challenge at times. I realize now that I was a little spoiled having Tim Marshall as a co-worker. I think Justin will be a great addition to our team."

If you cannot make it to the open house, please stop by the extension office between 8 a.m. and noon or between1 p.m. and 5 p.m. to meet Goodno. However, you might call first because K-State Research and Extension does require several days of training in the first year. The extension office phone number is 620-886-3971.
