A Burlington High School student is charged with two misdemeanors alleging assault and battery and hazing of a minor student. Deacon Tate Burleson, 18, of Burlington was charged April 2 in Alfalfa County.

Burleson is charged with willfully and unlawfully committing an assault and battery upon a minor male by then and there holding the minor down, hitting and poking the minor with a drum stick with force and violence. This crime is punishable by imprisonment up to 90 days or a fine up to $1,000, or both.
