Lady Rangers fall in both games in doubleheader

April 13, 2018

BETHANY, Okla. – Picking up where they left off yesterday, Northwestern Oklahoma State prevailed in Game Two of the series, 8-5 over Southern Nazarene. Following the continuance, the Rangers were defeated in both games by the Crimson Storm, 3-6 and 1-4.

Game 2 of Series (Suspended Game)

Picking up in the sixth inning of the suspended game of yesterday, Northwestern got started early scoring four runs in the top of the frame with the first score coming on a wild pitch, plating Peyton Garrett. A single by Madison McGraw scored Jordan Sutton, while in the very next at bat Macy Madewell brought around McGraw on a two-run RBI to take the lead to 8-4.

The hosting Crimson Storm hit a homer themselves, but that would be the only one they could bring across through the last two innings, giving the Lady Rangers the victory, 8-5.

Game 1

Northwestern started out hot and put across the first two runs with the first on a wild pitch, scoring Madi Parrott. Brittany Corrales brought around the second run of the inning, bringing around Sutton.

It didn't take long for SNU to answer, however, putting across one run in the second and continued to put runs on the board in the third and the sixth where six more runs would cross, taking a commanding 6-2 lead.

The Lady Rangers were able to get another one in the seventh inning off the bat of Jada Overby, but that was it for the Red and Black, as they would fall, 6-3.

Game 2

After pitching a 14-inning game yesterday, Madison Garza started the fourth game of the series and was on the unfortunate side of the decision, 4-1.

Southern Nazarene started off the scoring in the game, going up 1-0 in the bottom of one, but that was it on the offensive side of the plate for either team until another run crossed on a SAC fly to make it 2-0.

Putting up two more in the fourth inning, the Crimson Storm took a 4-0 lead, before the Rangers got on the board in the sixth frame.

The offense wasn't able to produce any more help for Garza however, ultimately falling in the game and the series.
