Reddies Win Midweek Tilt Against No. 27 UAM 3-1

Henderson State got a solid pitching performance from Dalton O'Donnell while Caleb Carr belted out three hits to lead the Reddies to a 3-1 win over Arkansas-Monticello, Tuesday at Clyde Berry Field.

With the victory, Henderson improved to 28-16 on the season, while UAM, ranked 27th by Collegiate Baseball, dropped to 29-15.

Henderson broke a scoreless tie in the bottom half of the third-inning as Carr led off the frame with a single up the middle. With one out, UAM pitcher Ty Jones walked Zack Gray and hit Dylan McCain to load the bases. Brandon Pollock then drove a Jones pitch to right-center field to plate Carr.

Brentten Schwaab forced home Henderson's second run when he hit a deep fly ball to score Gray and put the Reddies on top 2-0 through three innings.

UAM got on the board in the sixth-inning as Brian Ray led off with a triple to centerfield followed by Sean Wagner RBI single to make the score 2-1 and chase O'Donnell.


In the Henderson half of the sixth, Carr began the inning with his third hit of the game, belting a single to right field. With one out, Gray singled moving Carr to third. The Reddies loaded the bases for the third time as McCain was hit by a pitch. Pollock brought home Carr on a sacrifice fly to centerfield to extend the Henderson lead back to two runs, 3-1.

The Reddies had several opportunities to add to their lead but Henderson stranded 16 runners including leaving the bases loaded three times.

O'Donnell worked 5-plus innings for the Reddies before exiting the game in the sixth. The sophomore from Magnolia surrendered one run on five hits to improve to 4-1 on the year.


Kris Priddy entered the game to pitch for the Reddies in the sixth and worked two innings, allowing two hits while striking out a batter in holding UAM scoreless.

Brayden Bebee worked the eighth, retiring the side in order, while Taylor Langston pitched the ninth, striking out the final batter he faced to pick up his eighth save of the year.

Carr finished the night going 3-for-4 at the plate scoring two runs, while Pollock was 1-for-3 with a pair of runs batted in.

Henderson State will finish its regular-season with a three-game series against Ouachita Baptist at Clyde Berry Field beginning Friday with the first pitch set for 6 p.m.
