Cherokee officer faces woman with gun

 


A Cherokee police officer found himself facing a woman pointing a loaded gun at him, according to court reports. The officer convinced the woman to put down the gun, and no one was injured.

Martha Jane Beresford, 64, of Cherokee has been charged in Alfalfa County with assault and battery with a deadly weapon, a felony. This crime is punishable by imprisonment for up to life.

The police report shows Cherokee Assistant Police Chief Michael Andrews responded to a residence in Cherokee for a domestic disturbance. He learned that Beresford and her cousin Rosemary McFall live together at the address...
