Driver says he fell asleep

Dakota Shaw Davis told police he fell asleep, resulting in a rollover wreck April 10 on U.S. Highway 281 South in Alva. His vehicle also sheared off a power pole and struck a road sign. His truck is being loaded on a flatbed at right. The attached trailer is still in the ditch at left.

A driver who said he fell asleep woke to a wild ride on Tuesday, April 10. Dakota Shaw Davis, 24, of Weatherford was driving north toward Alva on U.S. Highway 281 South near Harper Road at 5:30 a.m. He told Alva Police K9 Officer John Caviness that he fell asleep. His 2011 black Chevrolet Avalanche crossed over into the southbound traffic lane and left the roadway, striking a road sign. The vehicle returned to the roadway and traveled 257 feet and crossed the roadway before returning to the northbound lane, leaving the roadway and overturning.
