Supporting 'our students and our university'

A delegation from Northwestern Oklahoma State University presented the spring semester scholarship bill of $235,641.50 from the NWOSU Foundation to the Alva City Council. The incentive scholarships are paid from a one-half percent city sales tax approved by a vote of Alva residents.

Foundation Director Skeeter Bird expressed his continuing gratitude for the scholarships for "our students and our university. Our entire community is involved in making these students successful."

Bird said he believes Northwestern is on the edge of a tipping point to become the premier university of the region. H...
