Alfalfa County commissioners renew TGS seismic survey permit

The Alfalfa County Board of Commissioners held a regular meeting this Monday morning. All commissioners were present, as well as Nancy Lambert, Troy Eshleman, Clint Reams, Thomas Wessels and Laneta Unruh. After the call to order, Lambert gave the invocation, then the flag was saluted.

The commissioners approved the minutes from the previous meeting, then departed from the agenda to read bids for the new wildfire brush fire apparatus for Cherokee Fire and Rescue. There was only one bid. After consulting the volunteer fire-fighters present, the bid was awarded to Blanchat Manufacturing Inc. of Harper, Kansas. The bid was $100,000 after Blanchat applied a discount of over $4,000.

All the M & O warrants for payment and the blanket purchase orders were approved by the commissioners. One road crossing permit was approved this week, in District 3.

There will be no burn ban this week.

Two private property access easements for District 2 were considered by the commissioners. The east half of the southwest quarter of 15-25-12 permit to remove backfill and debris for proper flow to the bridge was approved. However, the southwest corner of 18-25-12 permit to remove trees and debris from around bridge was tabled due to no signature from the property owner.

The contract between Rick Scott Construction Inc. and Alfalfa County for EMS-Helena station was signed today in the amount of $1,190,500. The agreement for the provision of inmate health services with Advanced Correctional Healthcare Inc. and Alfalfa County was also signed. The expenditure is $37,272.89 per annum, which comes to $3,106.07 per month. This covers inmates at the county jail.

Approval was given for the county clerk to go out on bids for a new building for the fire station for Aline responders. A seismic permit request from TGS-NOPEC Geophysical Company with Alfalfa County was submitted for renewal with the county and was approved.

No unforeseen business was presented. A motion to adjourn was approved and the meeting closed.
