Man charged with felony bail jumping

A man who missed his court appearance date is now facing another charge in Woods County. Michael Lynn Freeman, 48, of Osage, is charged with bail jumping, a felony. This crime is punishable by imprisonment for up to one year or a fine of up to $1,000, or both imprisonment and fine.

According to court records, on Jan. 1 Freeman was booked into the Woods County Sheriff’s Office on a felony case of bringing contraband into the jail. He was given a personal recognizance bond and ordered to reappear on Feb. 21 at 10 a.m.

Documents he signed state if he failed to appear, he must surrender himself within five days following the violation or be guilty of a felony.

Court records show Freeman’s attorney contacted the court by telephone on Feb. 7. As a result, Freeman’s court date was moved to March 7 at 10 a.m.

On March 7, Freeman failed to appear for his plea which resulted in a felony warrant being issued for his arrest. On May 10 Freeman was arrested in Tulsa County for his Woods County warrants. He was later transported from Tulsa County Jail to the Woods County Sheriff’s Office.

Freeman’s bond has been set at $1,000, and his next court appearance on the charge is July 10.
