Family members sit with Duncan's Rosaria Milton (middle front row) and coach Tim Buben (middle back row) as she signs with Northwestern Oklahoma State University to compete for the Rangers' track team.

After taking time to make a decision, Duncan graduate Rosaria Milton will be heading to Northwestern Oklahoma State in Alva to continue her track career after winning a state title for Duncan in 2018.

With a throw of 41-02.00 at the Class 5A State Track meet back in mid-May under her belt, and after talking with several colleges, Milton chose the Rangers and said she is excited to be a part of the program.

"It is an exciting experience and I'm happy to be a part of it," Milton said. "All of the coaches up there seem to like me and I'm excited to go up there with them and continue my throwing career."

With the move, Milton said her goal of heading to Alva is to compete. She said she will be able to become a thrower in three events for competition.

"They will probably have me throwing shot put and hammer and hopefully discus so I can learn that better," Milton said. "If not I will be fine without discus."

Milton said she has already decided a major and is hoping to get a minor to accompany her classroom studies while competing in track and field.

"I want to major in accounting and possibly minor in business administration or finance," Milton said.

As she reflects on her career, Milton wanted to thank several people for helping her through her high school years.

"I would like to thank my coaches for all they did and never giving up on me and always supporting me through it all," Milton said. "My family for supporting me during my track meets and I thank God for them and I thank God for giving me this opportunity to throw and continue my career."

Milton's semester begins in August and she said she is excited to be going to a town that reminds her of Duncan - a small community to thrive in.

"Yes, it is a small town, but it is just like Duncan and so hopefully I can make some new friends there," Milton said.

Milton's last high school meet was the Meet of Champions a week after the Class 5A State meet where she placed 11th in the competition with a throw of 36'10.00.
