Woods County commissioners tidy up year-end business

The Monday agenda appeared lengthy with 25 items, but it went quickly since many of the items had to do with facilities for juvenile detention. The commissioners will have to vote on all of these again at their July meeting, but they could not permit a lapse in the juvenile detention contracts even for a couple of days since there are Woods County juveniles housed at the present time.

Contracts approved: Sequoya Enterprises, Inc, at a rate of $22.52 per day per child; Texas County Juvenile Detention at a rate of $41 per day per child; ROCMND in Craig County for detention at $25 per day per child; and Sac & Fox National Juvenile Detention Center for an amount of $21.11 per day per child.

The board of commissioners approved paying a May detention transportation claim in the amount of $345.06. The board also approved a plan to continue the contract with the Office of Juvenile Affairs and Woods County.

The Woods County Temporary Estimate of Needs was approved in the amount of $10,481,416.23. That's 80 percent of last year's final budget of $13,101,770.29.

A road-crossing permit was approved for Alfalfa Electric Cooperative for an underground power line between county roads 460 and 470. There is no fee because it is a public utility.

The following banks were named by the cCounty commissioners as appropriate for county deposits: Oklahoma State Treasurer; BancCentral, NA; Alva State Bank; Community Bank; Hopeton State Bank; First State Bank of Waynoka (Core Bank?); and High Plains Bank.

The commissioners approved a continuing lease with the City of Alva to lease space for the election board in the Professional Building at the rate of $735 per month.

The board approved another year of Swift 911 for $6,495 per year. A third of that will be paid by Grant County. Swift 911 provides text, email and phone calls for severe weather warnings or other emergencies.
