The beautifully restored Bell Hotel received serious basement water damage after heavy rains early Sunday morning over-filled a large area dug for street improvements at Fifth and Barnes.

Owner John and Amy Ryerson were distraught at the damage. He said, “This could have been avoided if there was a plan in place to divert water from business and private property during the 75 days since tearing up the street.”
