Town & Country Christian Church holds Vacation Bible School July 15-19

Dinosaurs will be on display at Town & Country's VBS in mid-July.

Alva's Town & Country Christian Church (829 Church St.) Vacation Bible School will begin Wednesday, July 15, and continue through Sunday, July 19. The VBS will feature Matt Miles from Creation Truth Foundation, and reliable sources say that dinosaurs will make an appearance.

In fact, the collection making the trip to Alva includes examples of the albertosaurus, pteranodon and coprolite; and skulls of the tyrannosaurus, tylosaurus, edmontosaurus and pachycephalosaurus; along with a dinosaur egg.

The theme of the VBS is "Our Lost World," a play on the movie title "The Lost World," a "Jurassic Park" sequel.

"The Bible lessons are based on gardens," said organizer Linda Gordon: "the Garden of Eden, the garden after sin, a water garden – Noah's Ark, the garden tomb – the empty tomb, and heaven – a beautiful place, like a garden."

Adults are also welcome, Gordon said. "Adults can come any time – during registration or while the kids are doing crafts or listening to Bible stories. Matt Miles will be available all evening, every evening," she said.

Creation Truth Foundation is a nonprofit organization that seeks to shift American society's focus from science and redirect it to the Bible.

The organization's website (www.creationtruth.com) describes the issue this way: "Since the present mind-set or worldview (of U.S. Society) is steeped in evolutionism with all of its corollary ideologies and practices, it is easy to understand why there are so many breakdowns and inconsistencies in the lives of so many professing believers in America (e.g., 47 percent divorce among evangelicals, abject ignorance of scripture among Christians, a 70 percent loss of Christian youth to pagan philosophy by the time they reach 15 years of age, etc.)"

Miles has been with Creation Truth Foundation since 2006, and as of this year is the organization's president. He is a preacher and teacher of biblical origins, and has developed a program in biblical astronomy. He often speaks at Christian youth camps and youth training programs.
