We are about to celebrate a very important holiday, one that is meant to recognize the independence and freedom we have as citizens of this great nation. Interesting that this holiday follows Memorial Day, a day to recognize those that gave so much to insure the freedom we now enjoy.
The freedom we now enjoy is so reliant on such sacrifices. What does the word independence really mean? The dictionary defines it as the state of being independent. Synonyms are self-government, self-rule, and probably the best: self-determination. So where we go as a nation is dependent only upon us the citizens...
