Street in Broken Bow renamed in honor of WWII veteran, 92

 


BROKEN ARROW, Okla. (AP) — A 92-year-old World War II veteran from Oklahoma has been surprised with a street renamed in his honor.

The Tulsa World reports Oscar Nipps Jr. got the news Thursday as he volunteered at the Military History Center in Broken Bow.

First Place between Washington (91st) and New Orleans (101st) streets, where Nipps lives, will now also be known as Oscar Nipps Jr. Boulevard.

Broken Bow Mayor Craig Thurmond says the street renaming was a way to thank Nipps for service to his country and for volunteering at the museum.
