Alva man charged with not registering as sex offender

 


Alva police say a man told them he was in town to pick up a car before moving to New York. A few days later they heard he was moving to avoid a warrant. He was arrested that same day.

George Clayton Jacobs Jr., 32, of Alva, has been charged with two felonies: sex offender living within 2,000 feet of a school and failure to comply with sex offender registration.

According to court papers, Alva Police Officer William Shahan made contact with Jacobs on July 17 in the McDonald’s parking lot. Shahan states in his affidavit that Jacobs said he was in Alva to pick up a vehicle and then was leaving fo...
