August 5, 2018
The Alva Board of Education will hold a regular meeting Monday just a couple of days before classes begin. Teacher in-service days are Monday through Wednesday with classes to start on Thursday.
Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. is back to school night at all the Alva school buildings. Students and parents will have the opportunity to tour the schools to find classrooms and meet teachers.
The school board meeting Monday begins at 5 p.m. at the superintendent’s office, 418 Flynn, in Alva. Offers of employment are set for approval for three non-certified staff positions. Scott A. Baugh and Stephen B. Gale are listed for employment as bus drivers.
Board members will consider approving the extra duty salary schedule and the extra duty assignments for the new school year. Several “evergreen” contracts with American Fidelity are listed for board approval.
The board will consider three adjunct instructor contracts: Brooke Meyer in anatomy and physiology, Dixie Meyer in chemistry and Mary Tyree in life science.
School handbooks for the current school year will be considered. The board will vote on accepting several contracts including vision and therapy services, child nutrition, and Career Tech.
