Alfalfa County commissioners approve arrangement on state line bridge

A bridge teetering on the line of Oklahoma and Kansas came to the attention of the Alfalfa County commissioners Monday morning. The 166-foot bridge, located on the state line about two miles west of Kiowa, was built and paid for by the state of Oklahoma in 1988, and may have been receiving inspections by both states. In an effort to save money (only one inspection is needed per inspection period) and determine who is responsible for what on the bridge, the Federal Highway Administration is requiring a written agreement between Oklahoma and Kansas.
