Woods County commissioners

August 8, 2018

Chairman McMurphy called the meeting to order with a quorum; Smiley and Hamil were present. County Clerk Shelley Reed, along with Marione Martin and Kat Lunn of the Alva Review-Courier, were in attendance.

The minutes of the July 23 meeting were approved. Also, a road crossing permit for Brickman Fast Line, just north of Bryan Road, was motioned by Smiley and seconded by Hamil. It is a saltwater bore line. Concerning the agenda item for Construction Engineering District (CED) 8, Smiley had a consultation and accepted the bridge report. Smiley made a motion to approve; Hamil seconded.

Monthly Reports

The monthly reports were approved Hamil and seconded by Smiley. The assessors' collections were $152.50, county clerk collections were $13,235.01, health department collections were $0. The county clerk’s office balance was $252,008.08, the election board balance was $7,142.43, and the treasurer’s office balance was $137,679.27.

Inventory Resolution

The court clerk’s typewriter was set to be junked. It was surplused last week. The motion was made by Hamil, and seconded by Smiley. There were no other inventory items to be resolved.

District 2 Bid

B and H Paving Inc. bid $5,000 per mile for streets, $3,900 per mile for county roads and 0.444 square feet for the fairground parking lot. McMurphy made a motion, seconded by Hamil, to accept the chip and seal quote from B and H Paving. The work is set to occur the week of Aug. 20.

Wrap Up

There was no new business; however, Smiley did mention he had been digging out at Avard Lake. He said it's no wonder that the lake is only six feet deep – it's as hard as rock. He thinks it would make a good duck pond, but not good for fish.

Hamil made a motion, seconded by Smiley, to approve the blanket purchase orders. The meeting was adjourned by Smiley.
