Burglary charge against Rock dismissed

August 12, 2018

A burglary charge against an Edmond man has been dismissed in Woods County Court. On April 10 a warrant was issued for Ryan Todd Rock, 48, on a second degree burglary charge, a felony. Law enforcement officers believed they had identified him as one of two individuals seen on video at rural property owned by Jared Bates. The video showed the two men arrived in a Jeep Grand Cherokee. The burglary occurred Dec. 9, 2016.

Rock contacted the newspaper after the charge was filed stating he did not own his 1993 Jeep Cherokee until a year after the burglary. He also said he was on crutches at the time of the burglary.

A preliminary hearing in the case was set for Aug. 7 after Rock appeared with his attorney Ron Bittle. However, on Aug. 2 a motion to dismiss without costs or assessments was filed by District Attorney Christopher M. Boring and signed by First Assistant DA Brian E. Mitchell.
