WACO, Texas (Aug. 15, 2018) – Oklahoma Christian finished third in the Heartland Conference's preseason men's cross country poll, released Wednesday.

The Eagles finished third in last season's Heartland Conference Championship race in Wichita, Kan. OC will return one All-Heartland runner, rising sophomore Caleb Bozarth, from that squad. Bozarth finished 17th in last year's conference meet.

The Eagles, coached by Wade Miller, have finished in the top three in the league each year since joining the Heartland with the 2013 season, winning team titles in 2013 and 2015.

Dallas Baptist (Texas) received 12 of the 16 first-place votes from the league's coaches and sports information directors and topped the preseason poll with 124 points. Rogers State, which edged DBU by one point in last year's team race, received the other four first-place votes and was second with 113 points.

OC had 92 points, followed by Lubbock Christian (Texas) with 72, Newman (Kan.) with 60, St. Edward's (Texas) with 50, Texas A&M International with 41 and Arkansas-Fort Smith with 24.

This year's Heartland race will be in Laredo, Texas, on Nov. 3. The last time the league meet was in Laredo, in 2015, OC rolled to the team title with a record score of 20, placing nine runners in the top 17.

OC will open this season on Sept. 1 in the Central Oklahoma Land Run at Edmond Santa Fe High School.
