Crisis for the Woods County Free Fair

The Woods County Free Fair is facing a major financial crisis. The fair board was blindsided by the unexpected opinion of an auditor that funds budgeted for the fair could not be used for entertainment. The auditor said the money could be spent on premiums, awards and judges for all the agriculture and homemaking entries. But the money could not be spent on entertainment or even the fair kitchen.

The fair board learned of this pronouncement July 1. With the fair set to open Sept. 6, time was short to come up with a way to pay for entertainment.
