Democratic nominee stops by Alva

August 19, 2018

Democratic hopeful Frankie Robbins stopped by Northwest Technology Center Wednesday evening to share his vision of the future, should he be elected into the House of Representatives. Looking to secure a spot in Oklahoma's Third Congressional District, the candidate spoke a little on his background. With self-proclaimed strong ties to the state, the third-generation Oklahoman said his growing up on a farm embedded a strong work ethic in him from an early age.

This work ethic, along with the love of his country, Robbins says are the reasons why he is committed to doing the right thing for America. His hopes are to bridge the division and polarization between Republicans, Democrats and Independents.

“We all have had enough of the partisan bickering, enough of the nonsense, enough of the spin, and enough of putting political positioning and getting re-elected over doing what is best for America,” the congressional candidate said. “We need bold new leadership in Congress that is positive, optimistic, and has a 'can-do' attitude to tackle the big issues confronting America today.”

Robbins spoke about his views on the current state of healthcare and went on to talk about the state of mental healthcare access in the state and country. He was particularly focused on suicide in regards to mental health and considered it an issue that needs attention. Also calling for attention, he said, are the infant and maternal mortality rates. Robbins said mortality rates of infants and mothers in America are higher than several other countries around the globe. Lastly, the democratic nominee talked about climate change and how there is more than enough information and research out there to prove it exists.

If elected, Robbins said he would aspire to make a difference and, with a profound sense of personal responsibility to give back to his country, state and community, the end goal would be to “leave our children, grandchildren and future generations a better, stronger nation than what we inherited from our mothers and fathers.”

Oklahoma's Third Congressional District is the largest congressional district in the state and one of the largest in the nation. The district reaches from the Panhandle in the northwest to the outskirts of the Tulsa area in the northeast, and nearly splits the state in two diagonally.
