Woods County Fair flower show theme: 'Let There Be Flowers'

August 19, 2018

Woods County gardeners have been thankful for the bountiful rain this growing season. If your flowerbeds are still alive and thriving after this summer’s temperatures, consider exhibiting them in the Open Flower Show at the Woods County Free Fair, Thursday, Sept. 6, at the Woods County Fairgrounds.

The flower and horticulture arrangements at the Woods County Free Fair will be a delight for all those who attend the Sept. 6-8 event. Eight classes are available for floral arrangements in the open class and one class will be available for floral arrangements for the FFA silk flower arrangements. Entries will close at 11:30 a.m., Sept. 6. Entry rules and regulations are on Page 41 the fair book. The floral exhibits will then be judged at 1 p.m. that same day.

Bases, figurines or accessories may be used in all classes. Fresh flowers or foliage should be used, homegrown, not purchased unless specified in the class.

A wide variety of classes have been created to offer amateurs the opportunity to exhibit nature’s beauty using this year’s theme for inspiration. Keep your eye on those special houseplants and floral species you’ve been caring for all summer and enter them in the fair. Check out page 42 of the fair book for the categories.
