Split vote on City Hall HVAC bid

Some dissension developed among city council members Monday regarding a single bid received for HVAC (heating and air conditioning) installation at the municipal building.

Alva Business Manager Joe Don Dunham said employees in various sections of the building will need to be relocated during installation. Councilmember Brandon Sherman wanted to wait on voting until the cost of that move could be determined. But Dunham pushed for immediate approval citing frozen and broken pipes last year due to the faulty HVAC equipment.

In addition, the bid at $298,000 came in higher than the $234,000 bud...
