Bulldogs Soccer Falls to #1 Central Missouri in a Heart Breaker

August 31, 2018

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – SWOSU Soccer took defending National Champion Central Missouri to the limit but fell short in a 3-2 heartbreaker.

The Bulldogs led the Jennies by two goals midway through the second half before the UCM offense came alive to score three unanswered goals. Alimata Rabo and Memory Phiri combined to score the two goals for the Bulldogs.

SWOSU got off to a quick start as Rabo scored the Bulldogs' first goal of the season midway through the first half off a cross into the box by Phiri. SWOSU would keep the Jennies on their heels for the rest of the first half as the Bulldogs would hold them scoreless going into halftime. Phiri would again make her presence felt as she put SWOSU on the board seconds into the second half with her first goal of the season.

Despite the tough Bulldog defensive play, Central Missouri would soon find their way onto the scoreboard as Courtney Killian scored the teams' first goal of the game bringing the Bulldog lead to just one. The Jennies would tie the game shortly after on a Makayla Toth goal. The two sides would battle back and forth for the majority of the half until the tie was broken on a Jada Scott goal giving the Jennies a one-goal advantage.

SWOSU would continue to put pressure on the Jennie defense but time would run short on the Bulldogs, as they would fall to Central Missouri.

The Bulldogs will be in action again Sunday as they travel to Edmond to take on Central Oklahoma at 1 pm.
