Harding Women's Cross-Country Places Third at UCO Land Run

EDMOND, Okla. – Harding women's cross-country opened its season Saturday with a third-place finish among eight teams at the UCO Land Run, hosted by the University of Central Oklahoma on the same course where Harding will compete for the Great American Conference Championship later in the season.

Harding finished with 93 points. Oklahoma Baptist won with 21, and East Central was second with 65.

Harding's top finisher in the 5K race was sophomore Alicja Minczuk. She completed the course in 19:12.2 to place sixth. It was the third time in six career races that Minczuk was Harding's lead runner.

Other scoring runners for the Lady Bisons included sophomore Sharon Chepseba (13th, 19:43.6), junior Hayley Baca (25th, 20:42.1), freshman Sydney Tabor (27th, 20:47.1) and junior Sydney Sanders (28th, 20:47.4).

Sydney Lawrence, a senior from Oklahoma Baptist, won the event in 18:33.7.

Harding's next meet is the Rhodes Invitational in Memphis, Tennessee, on Sept. 15.
