Win is a consecutive “3peat” for Chavez

The threat of rain may have reduced the number of runners in the 34th Annual Kiowa Labor Day 5K Race. But the overcast, slightly breezy conditions provided ideal temperatures of about 67 degrees throughout the event that was spared from the rain. The race draws people from all over the country who come to visit relatives and friends.

In fact, the overall winner, former Alvan Luis Chavez, drove early Monday morning for the race from Oklahoma City. The following is the post he wrote in “The Kiowa Connection” on Facebook after winning the race for the third consecutive year. In the age division 2...
