A head-on collision took the life of an Alva man Friday afternoon. Colby Christopher Bouziden, 25, was pinned in his vehicle before being freed by the Alva Fire Department using the jaws of life. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The collision occurred at 4:22 p.m. on U.S. Highway 64 a half mile west of County Road 500 on Sept. 6. The location is four and one-half miles east of Alva.

Bouziden was driving a 2015 Chevy Equinox east on U.S. 64 when his vehicle went left of center for an unknown reason, striking a 2014 Ford F-350 driven by Leonardo Munoz Garcia, 58, of Del City.

Garcia was transported by Alva EMS to Share Medical Center in Alva and then transferred to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City by Survival Flight. He was admitted in stable condition with trunk internal and leg injuries.

Three passengers from Woodward in the Garcia vehicle were taken to Share Medical Center by ambulance where they were treated and released. They are John Webster, 39; Jerrad Zimmerman, 29; and Richard Maple, 33.

The highway patrol reports Bouziden was not wearing a seatbelt. Garcia was buckled in, but his passengers were not. The cause of the wreck is still under investigation.

Trooper Cody Creswell investigated, assisted by Troopers Sturgeon and Morgan. Also helping at the scene were the Woods County Sheriff’s Office, Alfalfa County Sheriff’s Office, Alva EMS and Alva Fire and Rescue.
