Alva man accused of assaulting rodeo spectators

An Alva man has been accused of inappropriately grabbing underage rodeo spectators.

Paul Douglas Simmons, 68, of Alva, is charged with assault with intent to commit a felony. This felony charge is punishable by a fine of $500 and imprisonment up to five years in the penitentiary or one year in the county jail, or both fine and imprisonment.

According to court documents, on Aug. 10 Woods County Deputy Adam Honeyman was working at the rodeo in Waynoka about 8:45 p.m. He and Waynoka Police Officer Ted Woodhead were contacted by Jason Badly, an off-duty game warden, who said an older man seated in...
