Football: Wonder Boys tame Bison for first win

SHAWNEE, Okla. – Carter Burcham threw for two scores and rushed for a third, KJ Reid turned in a 13-tackle performance, and Bryan Allen took sole possession of fourth place in the Arkansas Tech career rushing yardage category as the Wonder Boys football team (1-2, 1-2 Great American Conference) picked up a 31-7 win over Oklahoma Baptist on Saturday afternoon in Shawnee.

Burcham was also Tech's leading rusher with 99 yards and a score on the ground.
D.J. Williams picked off two passes in the win.
Tech racked up 423 yards of offense in the win, holding Oklahoma Baptist to 334.
The Wonder Boys were 7-of-14 on third downs and 4-of-5 in the red zone.
The Tech defense stood tallest in red zone opportunities, stopping Oklahoma Baptist on four of five opportunities.
With 96 rushing yards, Allen passed Greg Jefferson (1979-82) for fourth all-time at Arkansas Tech. He concludes the game with 2,865 career yards. With another 135 yards, Allen would become the fourth 3,000-yard rusher in Arkansas Tech history and with 212 he would tie Travis Horn (1998-2001) for third all-time.

The Wonder Boys return to Thone Stadium at Buerkle Field on Saturday, Sept. 22 to face Southern Nazarene. A 6 p.m. kickoff is scheduled.
