A first time visit to the ER

Tabitha Nutter, RN, takes care of Lynn Martin in the Share Medical ER.

It was a first for both of us, and it was happening so quickly we didn't have time to think. We were headed to the emergency room at Share Medical Center.

My husband Lynn was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in July. We'd been through several appointments, surgeries (for a stomach tube and a chemo port) and two rounds of chemotherapy.

On Labor Day afternoon, Lynn started feeling nauseous and vomited several times. This continued through the night. By morning he had a fever, and it was time to contact his oncologist. He was directed to get the already-ordered blood test at Share, planned to...
