Kiowa's City Council hires new police chief at September meeting

Kiowa's waterline replacement to be paid through utility bills, not property tax

Monday, Sept. 24, is the first day for Nate Houston to start as the new police chief in Kiowa, Kansas. City Administrator Lou Leone confirmed that Kiowa's City Council voted 5-0 to hire Houston following executive session at their September 10 monthly meeting. Also, Mayor Ron Rohr appointed Houston as police chief at that time.

Leone said Houston was with the Anthony (Kansas) Police Department three years before spending the last nine years at the Harper Police Department where he was a sergeant. Houston has 12 years experience which includes: running and supervising a police department; some...
