Kansas takes over nursing home that couldn't pay its bills

DERBY, Kan. (AP) — Kansas has taken over a nursing home after an inspector found that it was struggling to pay for food, medicine and utilities.

The Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services said the takeover was necessary to ensure the well-being of the 39 residents of Westview of Derby after the inspector found that the facility had hundreds of thousands of dollars in unpaid bills.
