Fall Armyworms infesting early planted wheat in Woods County

Reports are coming in from across the state of Oklahoma alerting wheat producers and agricultural scouts that this is a particularly bad year for infestation of the Fall Armyworm. With the good moisture conditions, many stocker cattle producers planted wheat early to achieve good fall wheat forage production. Fall Armyworms can infest the early young growth, especially the outer drill rows of the field. Left uncontrolled, they will consume large quantities of wheat forage sometimes removing the majority of the fall growth.
