Washburn to honor Bob Dole with dedication of bronze statue

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — Washburn University will dedicate a statue to former U.S. Sen. Bob Dole to celebrate his life of public service.

Dole, who is 95, plans to attend the dedication ceremony Friday in Topeka along with his wife, Elizabeth. Dole graduated from Washburn with bachelor's degree and law degrees by applying college credits he earned elsewhere while serving in the U.S. Army.

The Topeka Capital-Journal reports the ceremony will be 11 a.m. near Carnegie Hall on the Washburn campus.
