Woods County commissioners approve courthouse lawn use for Halloween

Woods County commissioners met Oct. 1. David Hamil and John Smiley were present. Also, attending were Shelley Reed, Kat Lunn and Alex Mantz. The minutes for the regular meeting of Sept. 24 and the minutes for the special meeting Sept. 26 were approved.

Monthly appropriations were approved by a motion from Smiley and second by Hamil. Two permits for Select Energy Services and SemGas (both are water lines) were approved. The monthly reports and collections were the assessor’s offices $516, county clerk $10,131.43, health department $109.23, treasurer's office $138,940.60, and election board $7,095.64.

Alex Mantz from the Chamber of Commerce came to get use of the courthouse lawn approved for Oct. 31. The “Spooktacular” event will be just like every Halloween. It starts at 3:30 with a mini costume parade from the fire/police station, the costumes will be judged on the courthouse lawn, trick or treat at local businesses, and new this year, Rialto will be offering a free movie for the kids.


A representative from Woods County 4-H came to get a proclamation approved for Woods County 4-H week.The 4-H week is October 7-13. There are 140 students in 4-H in Woods County. Smiley, seconded by Hamil, made a motion to approve the 4-H proclamation.
