NWOSU men's golf closes tournament Oct. 2 on upswing

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – Northwestern Oklahoma State University men’s golf improved 14 strokes between the first round and Tuesday’s final round at the Battle for the Belt Tournament in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

The tournament was hosted by Henderson State at the Hot Springs Country Club.

The team of Parker Rehorn, Tyler Berryhill, Colten Person, Preston Ewing and Ben Baker shot team scores of 308 and 306 in the first two rounds of the tournament, but finished the event with a combined 294, 11 strokes better than fellow Great American Conference member Oklahoma Baptist on the final day.

Northwestern’s one-bag, Rehorn (77-72-74), and Berryhill (76-74-73) finished the event with an identical score of 223. Berryhill drained an eagle during second round play Monday afternoon.

Person, a junior from Laverne, bounced back after shooting an 82 in the second round to finish at an even par 72 in the final round for a total of 232. Ewing (79-78-78) and Baker (77-83-75) finished the tournament tied at 235.


The Ranger men step to the next tee Oct. 15 and 16 when they take part in the Blue Tiger Invite, hosted by Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri.
