Campus safety report: MSU reports more rapes than UM

BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) — Campus safety reports show that students at Montana State University were arrested or cited last year for violating drug and alcohol laws 10 times more often than their counterparts at the University of Montana.

And the Bozeman Daily Chronicle reports that despite UM's troubled history with rapes, the Bozeman campus had more reported rapes than the Missoula campus — a total of 42 at MSU versus 23 at UM — from 2015 to 2017.

MSU Police Chief Frank Parrish says all the sexual assaults MSU police investigated in the last three years involved alcohol and underage drinking.
