Former postal employee charged with embezzling from Alva mail

An Alva woman has been charged with embezzling $1,810 by opening envelopes intended for others while she was employed by the U.S. Postal Services.

Kerri Dawn Phillips, 49, of Alva is charged with felony embezzlement in Woods County. This crime is punishable by imprisonment in the state penitentiary for a term of not more than five years and a fine not to exceed $5,000 and restitution.
