Football: Bulldogs Dropped by #24/23 Harding

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – The SWOSU Football team dropped to 2-5 in Great American Conference play after a 50-10 loss to #24/23-ranked Harding on Saturday afternoon at ASAP Energy Field.

The Bisons were in control from the start as they would take their first six possessions of the game for touchdowns. The Bulldogs would start to put things together in the fourth quarter, scoring all 10 of their points in the final period as Tyler Marr led scoring drives that ended with a 23-yard field goal by Jackson Wilhite followed by a Kedron Banks two-yard touchdown run.

SWOSU managed just 135 yards of offense, most of which came in the fourth quarter as Marr directed the two scoring drives. Marr finished 3-for-4 passing for 32 yards after taking over for Casey Freeman, who struggled to complete 6-of-14 passes for 30 yards with three interceptions. Jared Rayburn caught a team-leading six passes for 24 yards while Jaden Knowles led SWOSU on the ground with 32 yards on 16 attempts.

Defensively, Garrett Kilpatrick led the way for the Bulldogs by totaling seven tackles to go along with one fumble recovery. TJ Harris added six stops while Clay Wilkerson and Braden Sweet had five apiece, with Sweet adding a forced fumble.

Harding would make their living on the ground as they had 58 rushing attempts for 377 yards. Matt Fuller led the Bisons on the day with 99 yards on four attempts in the game. Cole Chancy led Harding with 12 carries rushing for 56 yards. Quarterback Preston Paden completed three of his four passing attempts on the day for 92 yards and two touchdowns.

SWOSU will return to the field Saturday, October 20, as they travel to Russellville, Ark. to take on Arkansas Tech at 2:00 pm.
