Men's Soccer: Hillcats Gain Early 3-0 Lead in 3-2 Victory over Eagles

CLAREMORE, Okla. – The Rogers State men's soccer team pulled out to a 3-0 lead and hung on for a 3-2 victory over Oklahoma Christian on Thursday (Oct. 18) night at Soldier Field.
The Hillcats (8-5-2, 6-3-2 Heartland Conference) posted three goals in the first 34 minutes of the game to build a commanding 3-0 advantage early in the contest. Noah Robson tallied the first goal in the 13th minute on a shot from about 18 yards. Kevin Kwarteng tallied the assist on the goal.
About six minutes later, RSU doubled the margin to 2-0 with a header by Michael Turner off a corner kick by Robson in the 19th minute.
The navy and red's final goal of the first half occurred in the 34th minute when freshman Anthony La Rosa scored after a quick turn in the box to increase the RSU edge to 3-0.
OC got on the scoreboard for the first time in the 67th minute on a goal by Garrett Blume. The Eagles made it interesting at the end with their second goal in the 88th minute for a 3-2 score.
For the 90 minutes, RSU held a 20-11 margin in shots, including a 9-5 edge in shots on goal. The first half was dominated by the Hillcats as the navy and red totaled 13 shots to only three from the visiting Eagles.
Robson finished with one goal and one assist on a team-high four shots. Kwarteng registered four shots and posted one assist.
Freshman goalkeeper Jazz Dhaliwal got the win in goal with three saves in 90 minutes. He moved to 4-1-2 on the season.
