Northwestern ends road swing with loss to Southern Nazarene

October 19, 2018

Northwestern Oklahoma State University volleyball end their three-game road trip with a loss to the Crimson Storm of Southern Nazarene (14-14, 6-6 GAC) in three straight sets [25-27, 19-25, 23-25].

Northwestern and Southern Nazarene both came out strong in the first set as each battled back and forth, not allowing each other to gain control of the lead. Tied up at 20-20, the Storm then went up 21-24 on the Lady Rangers, but they would not go away so easily.

The Black and Red tied it up yet again at 25-25; however, it would not be enough as an attack error from Northwestern would put the Storm up one and let them close the set out, 25-27.

Following up the first set, the Lady Rangers came out hot and went up 6-1, leading to a Crimson Storm timeout. Northwestern controled the lead until the halfway point of the second set where it was tied 14-14.

Southern Nazarene then gained their first lead of the set, and did not look back as they ran away with the set 19-25 and went up on the Black and Red in the match 0-2.

In the last set of the night, Lady Rangers had no plans of going away, as senior leaders Brooklynn Hesson and Hannah Williams led the Black and Red with four kills each in the third set. Tied at 22-22, the Crimson Storm took it upon themselves to close out the set and the match 23-25.

Hannah Williams finished the match with a team-high 12 kills and Kiauna Clark posted 10 kills of her own.

Northwestern Oklahoma State University (15-12, 4-8 GAC) now look to come home to play out their final three home games of the 2018 season. Northwestern will face Oklahoma Baptist University in Percefull Fieldhouse Thursday, Oct. 25, at 7 p.m.
