Helena man injured in crash

A Helena man was injured in a collision Tuesday, Oct. 16, near Helena. The wreck occurred at 10:15 a.m. at County Road 640 and County Road Cimarron. The location is 1 mile west and 2 miles north of Helena in Alfalfa County.
The highway patrol says Charles E. Fesmire, 67, of Helena was transported by Air Evac of Woodward to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City where he was admitted for head and trunk internal injuries. He was listed in critical condition.
Trooper Trey Mathews reports a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox driven by Tracy Todd McCollum, 52, of Helena was eastbound on County Road Cimarron. Fesmire, driving a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado, was southbound on County Road 640. McCollum failed to stop at a stop sign and struck the Fesmire vehicle. Neither driver was wearing a seatbelt.
Assisting at the scene were troopers Josh Byrd and Charity Robertson along with the Alfalfa County Sheriff’s Department and Alfalfa County EMS.
