Lady Bison Swim Big in Little Rock

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Oklahoma Baptist demolished the competition at the Arkansas-Little Rock Invitational Saturday with 735 points while winning 11 events.

Marizel Van Jaarsveld, Miriam Avila, Julie Day and Jamie Edwards won the 200-yard medley relay in 1:49.92.

Victoria Fonville has the No. 3 time in NCAA II in the 50 free at 23.66 and the No. 6 time nationally in the 100 free at 52.28, winning both events.

Van Jaarsveld took the 100 backstroke in 56.87, which is the No. 8 time in NCAA II this season. She also won the 200 butterfly in 2:07.73 in her wins. She won the 200 backstroke in 2:03.03 for the No. 3 time in the nation.

Juliana Cifuentes won the 200 freestyle in 1:57.36 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:05.25, which was the eighth-best NCAA II time this season. She won the 200 individual medley in 2:09.19.

Avila won the 200 breaststroke in 2:26.16.

Fonville, Cifuentes, Laura Cifuentes and Jocelyn Martinez won the 200 free relay in 1:38.99, which is the No. 9 time in NCAA II.

OBU finished ahead of Henderson State (644), Arkansas-Little Rock (642), University of the Ozarks (157), Lindenwood-Belleville (142) and Hendrix (30).

The Lady Bison return to action Nov. 16 at the Missouri Invitational.
