Woman freed from prison early over calls recorded in Kansas

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) — A Texas woman serving time in federal prison has been released early because a former prosecutor listened to recorded phone calls between her and her attorney.

The Kansas City Star reports that 37-year-old Michelle Reulet is one of potentially dozens of defendants who could be affected by a pending federal court case over recorded calls at a privately run detention center in Leavenworth, Kansas.

Reulet left prison Monday after U.S. District Judge Daniel Crabtree in Kansas City, Kansas, ordered her release. She was serving a five-year sentence for mail fraud and was not...
