October 24, 2018

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Southeastern women's tennis had a tough time getting momentum moving at the Great American Conference Individual Championships, with the team picking up three main flight victories, but were unable to advance anyone to the finals.

Chiara Berg and India Shiaelis played in the 1/2 Flight, but both suffered first-round losses.

However, both would come back with wins in the consolation bracket, with Shiaelis downing Oklahoma Baptist's Tahlia Walsh 8-5, while Berg collected an 8-0 win over Ouachita Baptist's Kendra Dinsmore. Both would fall in the consolation semifinals.

Sarah Dinovic would pick up a first-round win in flight 5, downing Harding's Lindy Carpenter 2-6, 7-6, 10-3, but would fall in the semifinals of the flight to Arkansas Tech's Annabel Rowland.

Nina Sergeev played in flight 3 for the Storm, but dropped her opener 6-3, 6-4, while Diana Budnik recovered from an opening round loss in flight 4 to post an 8-1 consolation win over ATU's Megan Ball.

In doubles play, Berg and Sergeev would fall 6-3 in their opening match in flight 1/2, while Shiaelis and Budnik suffered a similar fate by a score of 6-1.

Berg and Sergeev would come back and earn a 6-2 win over Henderson State's Bartlett and Miller in the flight's consolation bracket.
