SAU Volleyball falls at home to Arkansas Tech despite strong start

October 26, 2018

Magnolia, AR – The SAU Volleyball team lose at home to Arkansas Tech despite a dream start that saw the Muleriders jump out to a 8-0 lead in the first set, thanks in large part to the efforts of Morgan Gross.

The sophomore from Bandera, Texas recorded three kills and three blocks in the match's first seven points that saw Gross lead all players with 16 kills and five blocks overall on the night (4 block assists, one block solo).

For the first set overall, Gross had nine kills to go along with four blocks. Her 16 kills match her season high, previously done on October 12 against East Central, and her five total blocks was the third time this season the sophomore has reached that mark.

Despite the fast start, the Golden Suns fought back, eventually winning the first set 31-29, before taking sets two and three by scores of 25-23 and 25-18, respectively.

The Muleriders (8-19, 2-12 GAC) host their home finale on Tuesday, October 30 against Ouachita at 6 p.m.
